A cashier of the DRDA Churachandpur was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Tuibuang here early today even as the police has started a hunt for the culprit.
The deceased has been identified as one F Thangmoi (50) w/o Asher Jamkhomang Lhungdim.
Information received by The Sangai Express said, her prolonged absence from the house since early today began to disturb the family members and made frantic calls were made to some of her colleagues to know her whereabouts.
As the family was left clueless of her whereabouts even after enquiring her colleagues, they began looking for her inside the bathroom and other isolated places, wherein they chanced upon blood stains inside her bedroom, said a source.
They then informed her colleagues as well as police about the discovery.
The police on arriving at the Govt quarter she and her family were residing began looking for clues and eventually discovered her lifeless body below the house floor stacked beneath wooden pieces.
With little to cover her body when the police retrieved her body, the woman appeared to be in her sleeping-robe.
Police sources said, they believe the incident took place in between 4 and 5 in the morning.
Blood stains were recovered in the bed, parts of the mosquito net, floor and on the grass outside the residence.
Closer examination of the dead body indicated that it was dragged from the main bed room through the bathroom and another unoccupied bedroom before it was stacked among the wooden pieces.
Mysteriously, the blood stains on the floor were found washed.
Two of her daughters who slept in a separate room were unaware of the entire episode.
Her husband, Asher Jamkhomang Lhungdim as well claimed that his wife was still in bed when he left her for a regular morning walk.
Refusing to take any chances the police detained him for interrogation, while the dead body was taken to Imphal for autopsy.
A reliable source said, the deceased cashier had recently received a threat on her mobile phone, and interestingly the cashier's mobile received a text message later today telling her (in Mizo) that she should learn a lesson from what she have just experience.
The police are trying their best to trace the mobile phone.
