Imphal, November 25 2010:
In total contradiction to the claim of Assam Rifles that one PLA cadre was slain in an encounter at Tuitam Khongkhai as published in local dailies on November 24 issue, the proscribed RPF/PLA has asserted that Corporal (A-2683) Naoboy alias Longjam Umakanta (21) s/o L Yaimachou and L (O) Baruni Devi of Wangoo Sandangkhong Awang Leikai was a deserter taking shelter at Assam Rifles.
Corporal Naoboy was working in PLA's 252 Mobile Battalion.
On account of his own misconduct, he fled away from his post taking along with him one M-16, five magazines, 150 live rounds and one hand grenade at about 4.30 am of November 11 .
Naoboy was killed by AR after taking him into their custody, contended the outfit in a press release issued by its Department of Publicity Chief GM Changjou.
There was no shoot-out between AR and PLA on the said day.
Moreover, the list of seized arms and ammunition disclosed by AR is short of the actual number of arms and ammunition.
Assam Rifles may use these concealed arms and ammunition in killing innocent civilians or revolutionary cadres, it cautioned.
Naoboy was already declared a deserter on November 22 before he was shot dead by AR.
As such, all relationships between Naoboy and the party had been already snapped, it added.
