Imphal, November 25 2010:
A 5-day long National Integration Camp being organised under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Imphal has begun from today at State Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak here.
In all 150 youths coming from different parts of the country like Silchar, Anan-tang, Kishanganj, Agartala, Phek as well as from all the districts of Manipur are participating in the camp.
Along with the National Integration Camp, Knit India exhibition is also being organised at the same venue.
The inaugural function of the camp as well as the exhibition was attended by MLA of Uripok A/C L Nandakumar Singh as chief guest, MLA of Kakching A/C Y Surchandra as president and Zonal Director of NYKS J Ruivah as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA L Nandakumar Singh pointed out that lack of communication and interaction among the people create awkward situation.
Through interaction, we can get to know each other better.
So, such camps should be organised more frequently.
In his presidential address, MLA Surchandra observed that there are many dialects and different ethnic groups in the North East region.
We should be proud of that fact that people of various communities are living together in the region.It is not the time to think about one community.
Now is the time to unite all the communities, he exhorted.
