The 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) under the aegis of Spastic Society of Manipur organised Badhte Kadam-II, a national disability campaign to spread message of hope, peace, human rights and empowerment of persons with disability, was held at Thoubal yesterday.
Former Minister Dr M Nara, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, RK Dinesh, IAS, Commandant, 15 Assam Rifles, Col Sanjoy Ghose and other prominent civil dignitaries were present at the function.
Eighteen disabled persons presented various talent shows on the occasion.
Various competitions including children's creative drawing and essay writing were conducted and prizes were also distributed.
During the programme, awareness regarding various issues of disability including censure, education, Paralympics, other schemes and benefits through photos and posters along with simulation games were undertaken.
The disabled persons were given a chance to experience sign language, brail, lip reading and finger spelling.
Experiences of disabled persons were shared among all, PRO, HQ IGAR(S) informed.
