Hongmahn village under Saikhul sub-division of Senapati district today celebrated Diamond Jubilee on completion of 60 year since the village shifted from hilltop to nearby valley area with fanfare.
Saikhul MLA, Doukhomang Khongsai graced the celebration function as chief guest presided over by chief of the village Akhui Jimik.
In his speech as chief guest, Doukhomang stressed the need for living in harmony among the different communities and tribes settling in the state together for prevalent of peace in the state.
Only when the people of all communities and tribes live in harmony, peace will prevail in the state, he said and appealed the gathering villagers to live in harmony with other communities and tribes of other villages in the surrounding of the Hongmahn village.
Urging the socials organisations and NGOs not to give any kind of interference to the villagers living in harmony, the chief guest appealed the people of all section of the society to stand united for the integrity of the state.
Social worker L Onpam attended as guest of honour of the function in which president of the Meetei National Front (MNF) Chingshumbam Wangambi, editor of Hueiyen Lanpao (Meetei Mayek Edition) Meishnam Shivdutt and joint editor of Poknam, A Robindro also attended as special guests.
The chief guest unfurled a flag of the village to mark the opening function of the celebration.
