Sectorial allocation for the financial year 2010-11 was approved by the State Cabinet in a meeting held yesterday.
With a view to ward off additional financial burden, the Cabinet decided not to give consent to establishment of any new school/college or creation of new departments during the current financial year.
The Cabinet meeting held yesterday afternoon with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in the chair gave approval to sectorial allocation of the plan amount of Rs 2600 crores sanctioned for the current financial year.
Sectorial allocation made by the State Government would be forwarded to the Planning Commission for due endorsement, said an official source.
The plan amount of Rs 2600 crores which is inclusive of Rs 750 crores for Special Plan Assistance (SPA) has been allocated sector-wise to different departments.
The sectorial allocation was made under the condition that no new departments should be created nor private institutions absorbed.
The Government put in the condition with a view to avert additional liability and also to improve financial position of the State.
In addition, the Cabinet resolution also envisaged skill development and capacity building on priority basis in order to promote growth of human resources.
The SPA amount includes funds for JNIMS, Capitol Project, City Convention Centre, Loktak lake, Imphal Sewerage Project, district hospitals of Churachandpur and Bishnupur.
