A youth, who took part in an Army recruitment rally, has been kidnapped from New Chekon area at gun point by some unknown persons coming in a Maruti Gypsy with no number plate on Thursday afternoon.
Twenty-year old kidnapped youth was identified as Neklian Siam son of late Laiyampao of Phobi village of Saikhul sub-division of Senapati district.
He stranded the house of his aunt at New Chekon after he appeared in the Army recruitment rally at Bishnupur.
Family members where the youth stranded for medical check-up due to un-welled health said that he was abducted by the unknown persons on his way to buy some grocery items with Rs 500 in his pocked from a shop nearby the locality yesterday at about 2.30 pm.
Meanwhile, taking serious note on the kidnapping of the youth, Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Imphal Branch and Vaiphei Students Association Imphal block today in a joint press conference demanded immediate release of Neklian with a threaten to launch agitation if fails to response to their plea.
Speaking to reporters today at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club the president of KSO, Imphal branch, Helal Khongsai and president of VSA, Imphal block Haoshinthang said the kidnapped youth was eldest of three brothers bearing all burden of the family.
They also said that after abducting the youth, the vehicle proceeded toward Sanjenthong site expressing security men behind the abduction.
With regard to the missing of the youth, the family has lodged a complaint with the concern Porompat police station and also "we appeal to release him unharmed.
If fails to response to the plea they will be resorted in launching agitations.
