Imphal, August 20 2010:
Altogether 65 empty trucks left Imphal for Jiribam today to ferry the rice which have been stock-piled at Jiribam FCI godown.
Rice brought to Jiribam by train on August 5 have been stocked at Jiribam FCI godown unable to transport them till Imphal all these days.
As the FCI does not have transporters of their own, FCI sent the empty trucks to Jiribam in collaboration with the Transporters' and Drivers' Council.
Transportation charge for the trucks would be paid by the FCI at the rate fixed by the State Govt.
As per the rate fixed by the Govt, hiring charge for one truck is Rs 4420 per day.
Calculated at this rate, the trucks would be paid their charges together with a bonus of Rs 5000 .
As it takes seven days for a to and fro trip between Imphal and Jiribam, each truck would be paid Rs 30,940 and another Rs 5000 as bonus per trip.
