Imphal, August 20 2010:
The CRPF will provide escort and security to the vehicles enroute between Mao gate and Imphal at the timing fixed earlier, DIG, CRPF, Imphal, PS Rajora has informed.
In a press release issued today, DIG Rajora said the vehicles which are required to run upto Kohima or less may join the convoy, and the vehicles at Mao gate which want to come to Imphal may join the return convoy sometime in the afternoon.
However, the DIG advised the vehicles which are bound for Dimapur not to join the convoy since the traffic on NH 39 is not through yet, and may take some more time.
It is not advisable to stay enroute at the landslide points since it would cause obstruction to the vehicles carrying materials for construction of the road, he said.
He further said that in the wake of landslide between Zubza and Kohima, the movement of vehicles on NH 39 has been temporarily suspended till such time the repairs and re-construction work is completed.
All the vehicles which are stranded at landslide point have been ordered by the state administration to move away from the landslide point since these vehicles are causing obstruction to vehicles carrying materials for repair of highway.
The BRTF is working on war footing to re-construct the highway.
It was with this contention, that the CRPF convoy did not start from Imphal to avoid stagnation midway and to prevent congestion for local vehicles, he said.
