Imphal, January 07 2010:
In two suspected cases of abduction, one Veterinary Attendant and a woman Anganwadi worker have gone missing.
Yumnam Ibochou (50) of Yumnam Huidrom Khunyai Leikai Khwai Leirak was abducted by three unidentified armed persons from his home at about 7.30 last night.
On the other hand, Anganwadi worker Laisshram ningol Aheibam ongbi Rina alias Moti Devi (27) w/o Suresh has gone missing after she was called out from her Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal home by two women in the afternoon of January 3 .
Thoinu Devi, wife of Ibochou, said that all the three unidentified persons were clad in plain clothes and had their faces covered with scarfs.
While one of them was wielding an automatic rifle, the other had small arms.
They barged right into the bed room of Ibochou and forcibly took Ibochou outside.
While inside the room Ibomcha himself and his children pleaded not to take away.
When they asked why he was being taken away, the armed intruders only told them to keep quiet, Thoinu said.
Then they led away Ibochou towards the courtyard of the neighbouring house.
Ibochou's son Dhamen ran after them and pleaded with the armed persons to leave his father.
But he was responded by a blank-fire for making noise.
Another one kicked Dhamen at the chest.
Local people saw the abductors using an auto-rickshaw.
As he sustained some injury, Dhamen was treated at Wangoi CHC.
One spent cartridge of AK ammunition was recovered from the spot.
However, no complaint has been filed with police as yet in connection with the incident.
Rina was called out by two women at about 4 pm of January 3 on the pretext of talking about Anganwadi.
But Rina never came back after this.
A complaint has been registered at Porompat police station in this connection.
On the next day, one SMS which read as 'don't search for me, I'm leaving home' was received at the cell phone of her mother Indrabati.
The message was sent from another cellphone.
Rina's mobile phone has been switched off since the day she went out from home.
Rina's husband Aheibam Suresh of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai runs a two-wheeler workshop at Khoyathong.
The couple have been living at Rina's home at Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal since some years back.
They have a four year old son.
A sit-in-protest demanding safe release of Rina was also staged at Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal today.
