Major landslide at Tamei

Tamei, June 19 2015 :
Monsoon rain wreaked havoc causing major landslides in Tamei sub- Division of the Tamenglong District.
Tamei to Kangpokpi via Imphal road remained cut off for the last few days due to huge landslides near a diesel oil pump located some half a kilometer from Tamei Headquarters.
Contractor engaged under NEC road construction at Tamei has been clearing the site for two days, however only one JCB (small) used in the work is not in a position to complete the job, AB Adin, Secretary VACC Tamei informed, adding that it might take another three four days to clear it.
In another shocking incident, landslide swept away and destroyed the properties of one Z Madenbou on June 17 at around 11:30 pm.
A local Abeing Mathew told Hueiyen Lanpao that Madenbou has lost Rs 2.5 lakhs as the plot measuring about 100/200 metres, one iron gate, wooden planks, plantations/orchid farm, concrete stones of 12 Shaktiman trips and some GI sheets due to the landslide.
Z Madenbou and his wife expressed their sincere gratitude to all the people of Tamei for extending help in collecting materials back and re-constructing the house.
Village Authority Chairmen Council Tamei also appealed to the concerned authority to pay attention and clear the landslide at the earliest.
Many small landslides also occurred in different places however, there is no any untoward incident even as torrential rains poured down heavily in Tamenglong on Friday, too.
