AMHCBLA supports ATSUM demands

All Manipur Hills Contractual Basis Lecturers' Association (AMHCBLA) on Friday endorsed the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM-T) which is closing down all higher secondary schools in the five hill districts of the state protesting against the backing out of the commitment by the Manipur Government.
In a joint press statement issued by AMHCBLA President Ks Stephen and Secretary Kh Khongsai said that only regular 14 lecturers are there in 14 higher secondary schools in the hill districts and no regular principal was appointed while comparing with 434 lecturers in 25 higher secondary schools in the valley.
The hill higher secondary school was functioning by the contractual lecturers till today.
They alleged that the Government of Manipur extract maximum potentialities from the contractual Lecturers and using them not only in teaching but also doing other duties as regular employees like in the writing census and election duty, etc.
Most of the lecturers' age had expired but the government has done nothing to regularize them.
And how can this be bring a quality education in the hills they questioning.
They further ask if the government has real interested to bring quality education in the hills it better to regularized the contract lecturers or immediate terminated and replace with regular lecturers.
The statement further mentioned that education is a long term process which contract engagement will never bring upto the mark and it is more better for the government to regularize the lecturers or terminated form their post.
