Students' bodies condemn St Joseph incident

Imphal, June 19 2015 :
The incident of beating a small student by a teacher of St.
Joseph School Sangaiprou has been condemned by many organizations of the state.
Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) in a press statement has strongly condemned and demanded to take action against Gurumayum Rupachandra for beating up a class VI student against RTE Act.
It further appealed to release the 16 DESAM volunteers who were arrested after the incident.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Muslim Students Organisation (AMMSO) also condemned the June 16 incident and said that such act is the result of St.
Joseph School authority employing an untrained teacher who does not know how to teach a student.
It also demanded the release of volunteers of DESAM sooner and extended its willingness to support in any activities being taken up by DESAM in future.
In different press notes, All India Students' Federation, Manipur State Council (AISF) and All Manipur Recognized Private Schools Welfare Association, Imphal has also condemned the recent incident.
