Former MP urges Governor

Former Rajya Sabha MP BD Behring has urged the Governor to nominate women candidate for the two nominated seats of each ADC and let four hill ADCs function at their respective district headquarters.
Under panchayat and municipal bodies, 33% seats are reserved for women under Indian Constitution vide Article no 243 D (1)(2)(3), whereas, there are no such reservations under the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act 1971, BD Behring asserted at a press meet.
Demanding equal provision in the hill areas, the former MP urged the Governor of the State to select tribal women against the two nomination seats of the 6 ADCs.
The former MP also appealed the same to let Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul ADC function at their respective district headquarters like Sadar Hills and Churachandpur and also to permit holding the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected members at district headquarters.
