One day farmers' training held at Saikul

A one-day farmers' training programme on "On Farm Water Management (OFWM)" organised by the office of the Deputy Director (H&SC), Kangpokpi and Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur was held at Mapao Keithelmanbi village community hall, Saikul today.
Organised under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, the training programme was graced by Sh Premeshwar Sharma, Deputy Director, H&SC, ZV Sunder, vice-chairman, Mapao Keithelmanbi village and RK Soreingam, village secretary, Mapao Keithelmanbi village.
Speaking at the programme, Sh Premeshwar said that the training programme will enable the farmers to utilize the modern technology in order to increase their productivity.
Required monetary assistance will be provided so as to complete the construction of a pond for fish farming, he added.
Resource person K Devdutta Sharma said, "As a result of rising health-consciousness, people now spend time while buying food products to ensure it is safe rather than buying the biggest or better-looking vegetables.
Therefore, organic farming should be practised as it produces safer and healthier food products and does not disrupt ecological harmony as well" .
Banana saplings were also distributed to the farmers who had gathered during the training programme by the dignitaries.
