Nagaland has recorded its first H1N1 positive case, official sources said today.
The sources confirmed that the test sample of the suspect sent to the Regional Centre, Dibrugarh, tested positive yesterday.
The patient, hailing from Dimapur, had returned to Nagaland from Pune.
Dr Kevichusa Medikhru, nodal officer for Pandemic Preparedness, Nagaland, said the patient was already under treatment at the isolation ward of the Civil hospital in Dimapur and his condition was improving.
The swab sample was sent for confirmation on September 17 and it was confirmed H1N1 positive yesterday.
Another two samples of suspected cases from Dimapur have been sent for test to Dibrugarh and results were awaited, Dr Kivichusa said.
Health authorities here have assured the people that all arrangements have been put in place in all district hospitals with sufficient stocks of Tamiflu to face any eventuality.
