The proposed indefinite economic blockade along the National High-39 and 53 leading to Manipur has been deferred by the Joint Action Committee of 2006 Autonomous District Council Teachers Appointed Parents and Guardians, Manipur.
The JAC said that it had announced to called the blockade from September 21 midnight but as a mark of consideration to the festival of "our Muslim brethren" Id-ul-Filtr the proposed blockade has been suspended for the time being.
The JAC however said that even though there has been government's cancellation order for holding a fresh DPC for primary teachers in six autonomous district councils of Manipur, it will resume and intensify its agitation in the event of the failure from the state governmernt side to address the "genuine" demand of the 835 teachers appointed in 2006. The JAC then expressed its gratitude to the general public for the co-operation extended on September 19 in calling 24-hour bandh in the hill districts which was total and successful.
