Imphal, September 20, 2009:
The two-day state level convention on Human Rights and the Law organised by Human Rights Law Network, Manipur in collaboration with the Ireima Gender Empowerment Resource Centre, Eastern Rural Development Centre, Extra-Judicial Execution Victims Families' Association Manipur, Human Rights Alert, Manipur Network of Positive People, and Manipur Chanura Leishem Marup (MACHA Leima) was winded up today at the Retreat House, Mantripukhri.
The concluding day of the convention was divided into two sessions.
A case study on the cases of involuntary disappearances and atrocities was held at length during the first session.
The panel commentators of the session were retired Session Judge C Upendra, retired Session Judge, Manipur East Th Sudhir and Advocate Khaidem Mani.
A discussion on how to employ legal system in seeking justice was also held.
The discussion was chaired by Collin Gonsalves.
In the second session, a discussion on how to take action plans was held.
The session was chaired by Meihoubam Rakesh of the Human Rights Law Network.
A dialogue on AFSPA was also held later with Advocate Khaidem Mani as the expert.
The opening day of the convention on Saturday was marked by discussion on Right to Food (RTF), National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Human Trafficking, HIV and Child Rights.
