Imphal, September 20, 2009:
Mayengbam Bhavananda, the eldest son of (L) M Ibotombi (former CE of IFCD) and M Binokumari of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, has been awarded the prestigious Global Fellowship, NFP to undergo Master in Urban Management and Development with specialisation in Housing by the Netherlands Government.
He is among the 5 awardees who got a rare opportunity to get selected amongst 61 NFP countries worldwide.
During the course, he will spend seven months in Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University, Rotterdam and five months for specialisation in Lund University, Sweden.
Bhavananda did his schooling from the Mother's International School, New Delhi and is an alumnus of Chandigarh College of Architecture, Chandigarh.
At present, he is the President of Imphal West Building Centre, a centre committed in cost-effective and solar passive architecture, local counseling and housing guidance, training and demonstration of construction techniques, manufacture of cost-effective building materials and technology transfer and information dissemination.
The building centre itself was awarded to him in 1998 by HUDCO under the Ministry of Urban Development, GOI, through National Network of Building Centres.
