Imphal, September 28 2010:
Two UG cadres including a woman and a foreigner were nabbed by troops of Assam Rifles in the last two day in separate counter insurgency operations, officials said today.
Troops of 15 Assam Rifles apprehended one PLA cadre from Heirok area in Thoubal district at about 12.30 pm today.
He was identified as Ningthou-khongjam Sanatomba @ Thoungamba, (25) son of late N Mohan of Heirok.
He was handed over to Thoubal Police Station, a statement of the IGAR said.
Troops of 33 Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division also nabbed a female over ground worker of PREPAK in a joint operation with Moirang Police.
She was identified as Rita Devi @ Subita (37), wife of Ibomcha, a resident of Moirang Thana Leikai of Bishnupur district.
She revealed that she was involved in carrying out extortions and 'tax' collections for the outfit.
The OGW has been handed over to Moirang Police Station, a PIB (Defence Wing), Imphal, statement said.
Troops of 29 Assam Rifles at Tengnoupal also apprehended a Myanmar national from a bus bearing registration no.MN 04A-1847 coming from Imphal to Moreh yesterday at about 4 pm.
On interrogation, AR came to know that he was Ashraf Ali (26) son of Khaja Mueenuddin, of Yangon under Minglatung Nyunt (Myanmar) police station.
A student card and one directional compass along with two wrist watches and Rs.4650/ in cash were recovered from him.
He has been handed over along with the recovered items to Tengnoupal Police Station, IGAR (S) said.
