A joint team of experts from Central Agriculture University (CAU), Iroisemba and State Agriculture Department has today inspected the status of hybrid PAC 807/801 and HYV IR-68 paddy seeds being grown at different part of Bishnupur district under the Integrated Cereal Development Programme of the Agriculture Department.
On the other hand, seeds Pusa-2, a variety of corn have been distributed among the people free of cost under the supervision of CDO of the Department during a function organised by Plain and Hills Development Organisation, Ithai today.
The joint inspection team comprising Head of Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, CAU Prof Dr L Nabachandra, Senior Seed Testing Officer Dr H Nimaichand, CDO-ICDP (Rice) in-charge L Ibomcha, screening in-charge of Oil Seeds and Pulses Ch Jugindro, subject matter specialists from KVK Thoubal, officials of Plant Health Clinic of Department of Agriculture and District Agriculture Office, Bishnupur covered different parts of Bishnupur district where hybrid PAC 807/801 and HYV IR-68 paddy seeds are being grown.
The joint inspection team also visited Naoda Loukon at Naodakhong where hybrid PAC 801 have been cultivated and reaped not less than 37 Phoubot from one Sangam.
The growth of Lamyanba Irabot Phou, an indigenous paddy seed, cultivated at Keinou Thongthak had also been inspected by the joint team.
Speaking at the corn seeds distribution function held at Borayangbi as part of the inspection visit, CDO-ICDP (Rice) in-charge L Ibomcha appealed to the farmers not to keep their field idle and cultivate corn in the intervening period of Khariff and Rabi season.
The Department has also made necessary preparations to ensure that the public are provided the corn seeds, if they need more, he assured.
