Imphal, September 28 2010:
Trial of the nine police personnel against whom the CBI has framed charge sheets in connection with the killings of Rabina and Sanjit and injuring five other people on July 23 last year at Khwairamband Keithel has been deferred to November 12 .
Acting on the charge sheets filed by the CBI, the Court had issued warrant of arrest against the nine accused personnel.
Subsequently, the accused police personnel surrendered at the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal yesterday.
Though the Court released all the nine police personnel on bail after asking them to furnish PR bond, CJM Imphal Judge BK Sharma referred the case to District and Session Judge, Manipur East for conducting the trial.
Even as the Court directed commencement of trial from today, the high-profile trial has been deferred till November 11 .
The accused police personnel will be put on trial from November 12 .
The trial has been deferred as the sitting District and Session Judge, Manipur East Th Surbala is retiring tomorrow while the same Court would be on vacation in October.
Another order has instructed the accused not to leave Imphal without prior permission of the trial Court.
The CBI was roped in to investigate the case after the Court intervened.
