Imphal, September 28 2010:
Pointing out that a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government of Manipur and representatives of AMTUC, AMGEO and Cota on May 19 during which the State Government had accepted the revised Pay Scales based on the Central Pay Scales in toto, Welfare Association of 2006-07 Graduate Teachers has submitted a memorandum for implementation of Sixth Central (Revised) Pay in toto and rectification of pay anomaly for Graduate teachers.
In the representation addressed to the Sub Committee on Pay Anomaly, the Association expressed resentment that inspite of engaging graduate teachers towards achieving quality education in the State by establishing model schools in all the districts in the line of Navodaya Vidyalaya commitment of the Government in addressing plight of the teaching community is questionable.
apart from presenting a detailed account of the agreement between the Government and the employees' bodies earlier this year, the Association also suggested that an alternative arrangement be made for training of untrained graduate teachers in BEd course at the earliest as service of these teachers are liable to be terminated in five years time as per norms laid down by the Government.
While holding the Government responsible for appointment of untrained graduate teachers as there was no screening process at the time of enrolment, the Association also suggested that differentiation between the trained and untrained graduate teachers be made only in the increment.
in highlighting their grievances and urging that prompt action be initiated, the Association also cautioned that failure to take positive action might compelled the body to launch various forms of agitation.
