At least 12 cadres of the armed outfit Patkan Re-unification Army (PRA) including private secretary to the outfit's commander-in-chief laid down arms before DGP Y Joykumar and IG AR (S) Maj Gen CA Krishnan.
The UG cadres surrendered to the State in a formal function christened as 'home-coming ceremony' at Hqs IG AR (S) at Mantripukhri today.
The function was also attended by family members of the surrendered cadres as well as officers of 26 Sector Assam Rifles and 31 Assam Rifles.
The PRA cadres brought along one AK-56 rifle with 40 live rounds, one G-4 LMG together with 50 live rounds, one US made .22 pistol with 11 live rounds, one Spain made 6.35 pistol with eight live rounds, three 9 mm pistols, one battery Kenwood radio set and some flags of the party.

Speaking by the sideline of the home-coming ceremony, DGP Joykumar remarked that UG cadres of different outfits joining the mainstream in the last few months is a positive sign.
He went on to say that many other cadres of different outfits would be following suit.
He said that the surrendered cadres would be rehabilitated after screening according to rules.
Maj Gen CA Krishnan observed that many misguided UG cadres cannot join the mainstream even thopugh they wish to for fear of reprisal from their parent organisations.
He further appealed to all to cooperate in the efforts to bring back the misguided youths to the mainstream and also towards establishment of peace in the society.
