Former champion Koireng maintaining his unbeaten stint in the 14th Kh Anou Singh Memorial state Level Open Chess Tournament inched closer to the competition crown subduing defending champion Vikramjit in a fifth round match today at Kwakeithel Junior Boys School.
Vikramjit (3.5) conceded defeat due to time pressure enabling Koireng to establish a clear one point lead over his nearest rival.
In the other matches of the day, Apollosana (4) overcame TS singh after 57 moves, Premjit (4) downed youngster Sanjoy (3) while Bhupendranath (4) defeated Dorendro (3) in the penultimate round today.
Bhogen (4) and Inao Sharma (4) defeated Loken (3) and Romesh (3) respectively.
