Development of science is very essential to bring about an over all improvement in our day to day lives, asserted Arts & Culture and Sericulture Minister Dr M Nara.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the two day training programme organized by the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) Takyelpat at its seminar hall today, Minister Nara urged the young scientist of the State to work hard and be committed in their works as the future of the State lies in their hands.
He also assured that a new Science museum would be built in the State during his term to encourage the State's budding students with scientific bend of mind.
Highlighting on the ill effects of using pesticides and chemical fertilizers, Minister Nara said that some of the most dreaded diseases of human beings are the direct effects of using chemical fertilizer and pesticides.
In his presidential speech, IBSD Director Prof Hijam Tombi informed that Manipur and the Western Ghats in Maharastra are two important places in the country where rich bio-resources are available in abundance and added that the State Govt should do everything within its means to protect the large bio-resources found in the State.
The training programme was held under the theme "Biotechnology tools for the conservation and sustainable utilization of bio-resources" was attended by about 20 young scientists.
