Imphal, June 25:
Chairman of Social Welfare Advisory Board, Manipur Rajkumari Binita Devi has stressed on the need for taking up awareness programmes for women in interior and remote parts of the State with missionary zeal.
Speaking to The Sangai Express today, Binita said that although the Board has been taking up various awareness programmes for improvement of health and financial condition of women through grant of loan to various womens society located in different parts of the State, there is still need for carrying out the task with sincerity and missionary zeal in remote areas.

On the role being played by the State Social Welfare Department, she said that over and above the schemes already being implemented, Centre has launched a new scheme called Manavi Sauraksan Abhiyan and the State Social Welfare Department is directly looking into successful implementation of the scheme in Manipur.
Enumerating on some of the programme currently being taken up by the Department, Binita mentioned organizing discussion on Statewise future plan, conference and meeting on the topic of Manavi Sauraksan Abhiyan, birthday celebration and health check up of girl child, providing nutritious foods to girl child upto the age of 3/4 years, special tours for girls and enrolment of girls in school among others.
