Azaco clarifies on Gaan Ngai date

Imphal, January 11: All Zeliangrong Arts and Cultural Organisation (AZACO), Manipur has stated that the statement issued by the organisation on January 2 announcing celebration of Gaan Ngai festival on January 23 was the joint decision of all the important representatives of Khullakpas and Thou-beis to ensure full participa- tion of all the communities living in Manipur.

However, the mention of State function should be read as State level function, AZACO president Poudo-ngai Kamson clarified in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Kabui Samiti Manipur while taking serious note of the atte- mpt being made by some organisations to mislead the people by distributing pamphlets in Kabui villages asking the people to celebrate Gaan Ngai on the 14th day of Wakching, has asserted that the festival is being celebrated on the 13th day of Wakching every year since time immemorial and this year it happens to fall on Jan 23.Gaan-ngai wish: United People�s Front Manipur conveyed its warm wishes to the kabui community on arrival of Chakan Gaan-ngai festival.
