Imphal, January 11: The Kuki National Army has demanded an explanation from P Gangte and Jang-mang Haokip for their statement issued in the Manipur Express (December 19) and other local papers under an �assumed Kuki Inpi� pertaining to the �NSCN (IM) led Kuki genocide� from 1992 to 1997 that killed over 900 Kuki people and displaced thousands.In a statement, KNA said that the two persons should spell out what has transpired between them and the NSCN (IM).

KNA also demanded a response from the duo on the action of the NSCN (IM) such as illegal imposition of taxes on Kuki people, quit notice served on Kuki villages, massacre of Kukis and their displacement.

The outfit further said that the Kuki Inpi is the apex body of the Kuki people and charged P Gangte and Jangmang Haokip of reducing the body to the status of a co-operative society by getting it registered as one.

The two should respond to the queries raised as well as explain for trivialising the Kuki Inpi within this month, KNA demanded.

Failure to respond within the time frame set will entail serious repercussions, it further warned.
