Imphal, August 06: Communist Party of India (Marxist), Manipur State Committee has hailed the Government of India for starting the process of lifting essential commodities by air for the people of Manipur who are reeling under the impact of the indefinite economic blockade imposed by ANSAM along the National Highways for more than one and a half month by now.

In a statement, party secretary Dr Yumnam Mahendra observed that the lifting of essential commodities by air should continue until the blockade has been lifted and normalcy returned in the State.

While noting that his party has been demanding the Chief Minister and the Governor for taking up any means so that the people of Manipur do not suffer from want of food and other essential commodities, Mahendra also appealed to ANSAM for lifting the economic blockade immediately in view of the hardships being caused to people both in the hill as well as in the valley.
