In remembrance of one of the most tragic human holocausts in the history of mankind, Indo-Japan Friendship Association, Manipur today observed the 60th Hiroshima Day during a function held at Nupi Lan complex here.
It was on this day in 1940 that American bombers dropped atomic bombs over the Japanese city wiping off the entire population.
Former Minister of Art and Culture and MLA Dr M Nara Singh, former Minister of State for IFC and MLA Th Tomba Singh, Association president S Rajmani Sharma and IMC chairperson G Moirangjao Kabui attended the function as chief guest, guest of honour, president and special guest respectively.
Besides reading out the Peace Declaration of the Mayor of Hiroshima, a documentary titled �Hiroshima - a mother�s prayer� was also screened during the function.
A painting competition on the theme �Our peaceful earth� was also organised to mark the occasion.
