The Kuki Students' Organisation, Imphal branch has strongly condemned the killing of Soineimang Vaiphei of Kamuching village, Sadar Hills and staying at New Checkon by unidentified gunmen yesterday at about 8 pm.
In a statement, the student body said that Soineimang was a prominent social and political leader of the Kuki people who rendered his service to the Kuki community and Manipur as a whole.
His death will leave a void in the Kuki community which will be hard to fill, it said and added that his service to the Kuki people will remain etched in history.
KSO also demanded an explanation for the killing of Soineimang and appealed to all not to repeat such acts of cruelty.
The student body also extended its condolence to the bereaved family.
Maringlane Development Committee, Imphal East has also condemned the killing of Soineimang Vaiphei of Maring Lane by unidentified gunmen yesterday night at his own residence.
Demanding clarification from group involved in the killing and appealing to all concerned against committing such crime in the locality, the Committee demanded that adequate security cover be provided in the area in view of frequent shooting incidents.
Joining the condemnation chorus, Zillai Imphal Block Vaiphei Students� Association (Lamphel) demanded explanation and clarification from the perpetrators.
