Imphal, December 08:
Although no such written test has been prescribed in the relevant recruitment rules for direct recruitment to class-III posts, the State Government has decided to conduct the written test with a view to facilitate selection of suitable and meritorious candidates in a free and fair manner.
The said written test would not be, however, applicable for direct recruitment to LDCs or any other class-III posts for which written test is already been prescribed in the relevant recruitment rules.
The Department of Personnel and Administrative reforms (Personnel Division) has issued an office memorandum in this connection today.
According to the office memorandum, the written test shall consist of one combined paper of General English and General Knowledge carrying 100 marks and the duration of the test would be 3 hours.
In the combined paper, the marks for General English and general Knowledge would be 50 marks each.
In case of recruitment of Graduate Science/ Mathematics teachers, the Department may also prescribed 100 marks written test for Science and Mathematics in addition to the written test for General English and General Knowledge.
The percentage of the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree or undergraduate examination prescribed for the recruitment rules as essential qualification shall be added to the percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the written text and the aggregate percentage of the marks so obtained shall be considered by the Selection Committee for the purpose of interview/viva voce and final selection/recommendation thereafter.
Since the candidates would already be tested in the written test for screening and his/her marks of qualifying examination be added, the marks for viva voce/interview would be as minimum as possible, the office memorandum said.
Based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the written test and qualifying examination, the Selection Committee shall call the candidates for the interview/viva voce, it said, while informing that the number of candidates to be called for interview would be five times the numbers of vacancies.
