Protesting the indifferent attitude of the All India Football Federation to the alleged misconduct of the referee who conducted the quarter-final match of the 60th Santosh Trophy Football tournament played between Manipur and Goa on November 17 last which led to the exit of Manipur, all the participating teams boycotted the All India Inter-University Women�s Football Tournament being played at Manipur University campus here today.
Later the players took out a silent protest march decrying the failure of implementing the assurance given by the AIFF president Priya Ranjan Das Munshi to probe into the fiasco and take up necessary action to rectify the mistake accordingly.
Participating teams from Universities outside the State also took part in the protest march which was taken out from MU Students� Home till the playground where the tournament is being played and hosted by Manipur University Students� Union (MUSU).
The agitating players carried placards and shouted slogans demanding justice.
Addressing mediapersons before the protest march, MUSU president Khundongbam Ashokumar informed that the flag of the University had been hoisted half-mast on the inaugural day of the tournament on December 5 to protest the unfair treatment meted out to the Manipur team in the Santosh trophy.
A complaint letter had also been despatched to the Indian Prime Minister in this connection, he informed.
