Kohima, December 08 (NEPS):
Former Nagaland Chief Minister and current Governor of Goa, SC Jamir said any solution to the long drawn out Naga political issue should be durable, permanent and honorable and it should be acceptable to the people of Nagaland and the Government of India.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the "2nd Conference of the Vice Chancellors of the North-East and Jammu and Kashmir" here on Thursday, the Governor said they should be able to "work out" for a final settlement to the Naga political problem during the ongoing peace process.
"But so far they can't work out," he rued.
Jamir averred that the ongoing peace process which was started when he was Chief Minister in the State should not be fizzled out without finding a "durable, permanent and honorable solution that is acceptable to the people of Nagaland and the Government of India".
Lamenting on the prevailing law and order situation in the State, Jamir said he always condemned all forms of killings and violence.
He also stated that the insurgency hindered all developmental fronts and the people should remove such hindrance.
"It is high time that the people realize such acts of killing as a thing of the past, because we have to look forward for our younger generation," he pointed out.
"What we require now is peace, harmony and reconciliation," he stated, adding, "I have already reconciled for whatever had happened to me and forgiven those who tried to assassinate me".
