Imphal, December 20: Governor Dr SS Sidhu today said anipur is a place where people could earn money by producing new products.

He was speaking at a function organised at the Raj Bhavan inconnection with the slide show presentation by noted environmentalist Dr Anil Joshi on how rural economy can be improved in Manipur and closing of a workshop for Self Help Groups trained by the Assam Rifles.

Governor said Manipur is endowed with rich natural resources.

If these natural resources could be utilised properly, the economy of the State would improve.

Earlier in his address, IG AR Maj Gen BS Gothra said Manipur is not just rich in natural resource but also in scenic beauty.

As part of the Assam Rifles' endeavour to improve the financial condition of the people, 700 Manipuri youths were been recruited in the Assam Rifles last year and another 3000 in the current year.

The force had spend Rs 14 lakhs in welfare activities of the people last year apart from imparting training to Self Help Groups.
