Imphal, December 20: In the ongoing incessant hunger strike launched by the Manipur State Pensioners' Union, 11 pensioners underwent hunger strike today at Singjamei, Chingamakhong.

A statement issued by the Union asserted that the demands put forward by the Union are justified and legitimate.

The pensioners and family pensioners have been demanding one time payment of 14 percent DR, it reminded and informed that GPF of State employees have been deposited in their respective accounts at high interest while the same is non existent for pensioners in which case one time payment of pension amounts become inevitable.

Even then an order was issued on July 26, 2005 pertaining to restriction of one time payment, added the statement alleging it as unjustified and uncalled for.
