Suspend Kuki Rebellion function, says KSO

Imphal, December 20: Contending that the controversy on the date of commencement of the Kuki Rebellion has not been resolved yet, the Kuki Students' Organisation has appealed to all concerned to suspend observation of the Rebellion anniversary.

A statement issued by KSO informed that the Kuki Independence War Memorial Committee maintain that the controversial date is December 19, 1917 while the Anglo-Kuki War Patriots Memorial Foundation is of the opinion that it should be March 17, 1917.To ascertain the authenticity and the true date of the commencement of the rebellion, the general assembly of the KSO constituted a 'Fact Finding Commission' comprising of research scholars and historians, it said and appealed to the two bodies to abstain from organizing the Kuki Rebellion function till the matter is settled.
