Thanks to negligence of Central Government officials an Indian sepak takraw team have been denied participation at the 1st Asian Indoor Games scheduled to be held at Bangkok from Nov 12-19.Significantly all the 12 players (men and women) selected to represent the country in sepak takraw event are from Manipur.
Despite hectic preparation of the selected players in compliance with constant correspondence between the Sepak Takraw Federation of India and All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association general secretary of the Indian Federation M Salim Baig is informed to have conveyed to the State association on failure of Central authorities to provide requisite clearance for participation at the international competition.
The team was scheduled to leave for the competition venue on November 8 accompanied by Dr S Biswas and Shamsher Singh as coaches and Salim Baig as the manager, said source in the State association.
Players selected for the men's team are Ch Biken, Th Dharmendra, AK Sanathoi and Ng Rakeshor of MPSC with Ch Premananda and W Surjit from the SAI RC.
