Even as three persons including an IRB personnel, who attempted to hijack a truck loaded with motorcycles on NH-39, have been sent to jail, two truck drivers abducted by unidentified persons from the same highway have been released safe today.
Mangshua Lainai Maring (31) of Khunbi village of Chandel district, Md Fajur Rahman (40) of Kshetri Bengoon and Laikhuram Nandalal (31) of Top Mayai Leikai were rounded up by Senapati police on March 22 from Lairou village for attempting to hijack a truck loaded with Bajaj Pulsar bikes.
The trio was brought before the Senapati CJM and remanded to judicial custody.
Later, they were detained under NSA with an order of the District Magistrate Senapati.
Meanwhile, the two truck drivers abducted by unknown gunmen on March 25 from Khongnem of NH-39 were released today.
Hemanta of Khangabok Mayai Leikai and Sanjoy of Pashong Khunou were abducted by Maruti Zen borne unidentified persons when they were driving their rice laden trucks towards Imphal from Dimapur.
The duo has reached Imphal this morning.
