Lamka, March 31, 2010:
One of the Suspension of Operation conglomerates, the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) today pledged to safeguard non-Manipuri residents of the district in an apparent response to the Revolutionary People's Front's call for voluntary exit in safer places.
"The SoO group have joined hands and have decided to stand up for the non-Manipuris against the remarks made by the RPF," declared a statement of the Kuki National Organisation signed by its under secretary, Publicity and Information, T Stephen Kuki.
Touting the KNO as non-communal and secular organization which believes in honouring human rights for every individual irrespective of caste, colour and creed, the statement said it made the public statement to condemn the RPF's discriminatory stand against fellow Indians.
It is the stand of the SoO groups to denounce the RPF statement that all individuals residing in Manipur whether Manipuri or non-Manipuri are first Indians and the belongingness to a state is only by virtue of birth.
The rise in economy and development of Manipur is the result of the sweat and hard work of the residents and non-residents of the state, added the statement.
The group also declared to work for protection of their fellow countrymen including non-Manipuris and promised to assist them in any manner.
