Reports of destructions and damages caused by hailstones with heavy wind pouring in from various parts of the state since the last two days as concerned officials including some NGOs are accessing for the reports to be submitted to the government for necessary relief.
As per information culled from various spots of Imphal West , CGI sheets of over 400 houses have been damaged by the hailstorm.
The worst affected areas include Laphupat Tera, Khunou, Mayai Leikei and Khodak.
The destruction and damages occurred during the last 48 hours.
If the heavy downpour accompanied by heavy wind persists chances are that most of the houses will not be able to withstand the calamity.
According to Kachanthai Faiga Gangmei, SDC of Mayang Imphal while talking to some media persons disclosed that she had conducted survey in the afected areas.
She assured the hailstorm victims that the same report will be handed over to the higher-ups for immediate relief.
Reports of destruction and damages of houses were also received from the districts of Churchandpur and Ukhrul in Manipur due to the hailstorm which have been continuing for the past two days but the exact picture of damages could not be ascertained till the filing of this story.
The district of Churchandpur experienced heavy downpour accompanied by storm which destroyed a Junior High School at Saipum.
In Ukhrul district, according to Yarsho, working for an NGO disclosed that many houses in Roudie village were damaged due to the hailstorm.
