The Civil Secretariat here experienced black out today after Manipur Electricity Employees' Union snapped the power supply at around 2 pm in support of the cease work strike being launched under the aegis of Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of AMTUC and AMGEO in pursuance of the demand for implementation of Central 6th Pay Commission in toto.
According to information received by the press, in support of the ongoing cease work strike, all the supply lines from the Keishampat Power House were snapped.
During the black out, employees in charge of the engines for providing back up power to Raj Bhavan, CM Bungalow and Civil Secretariat also did not operate the engines.
The blackout lasting few hours had created lot of inconveniences in the Secretariat.
The power supply was, however, restored at around 5 pm after the police personnel kept in guard at the power house.
In the late evening, a statement of the Manipur Electricity Employees' Union has announced that the strike of the Union has been called off after a joint meeting with the Chief Engineer of the Department.
