Based on performances at the November 7-25 men�s and women�s national coaching camp conducted at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium 17 athletes have been selected to represent India in the 8th World Wushu Championship to be held at Hanoi, Vietnam from December 7 till 15.With the exception of four athletes other selected players have their roots in Manipur but currently employed in armed forces or having shifted to other States, informed Wushu Association of Manipur.
Along with two athletes from Manipur coach (routine) M Biramani Singh is scheduled to leave Imphal tomorrow to join other members of the squad.
However, uncertain still prevails on whether Biramani will be able to leave in time as till date government of Manipur has not issued necessary clearance, rued the Association while drawing the attention of relevant officials to ensure participation at the international competition.
The athletes selected to compete in various categories/events are W Inunganba Singh (ASCB), H Dewan Singh (CRPF), S Somorjit Singh (CRPF), N Roshan Singh (CRPF), Vijendra Singh (UP), M Sadananda Singh (CRPF), Ng Toshibala (Assam), Kiranbala Devi (CRPF), K Kalanganglu Rongmei (Manipur), W Sandhyarani (CRPF), Neeraj Jhudda (Haryana), Th Amuchou (Assam Rifles), L Dhiren Meetei (Manipur), M Bimoljit Singh (CRPF), Rajendra Singh Meena (CRPF), Gajendra Singh (UP) and M Brojen Singh (Assam Rifles).
Services cricket: The 17th Manipur Civil Services Cricket Tournament 2005-06 is slated for start from third week of January at THAU ground for which Manipur Civil Services Cricket Assn informs teams to complete entry formalities within December 30.Further details may be obtained from Association vice president kh Nandakumar.
