Imphal, November 30: As a part of the 80th anniversary of CPI, the 58th joint session of Hills and Valley was held today at MDU.

The session was attended by former VC of MU Dr I S Khaidem, retired lecturer, Prof Riyaj Udin Chowdury, Prof N Kunjamohan, social worker, Rose Mangsi Haokip, minister N Mangi, secretary of CPI, B Sharma and RV Minthing as presidium members.

Addressing the session, M Ibohal recounted various incidents of 1947 including the agitation launched by the Naga Club to retain their status under the British rule.

Prof Kunjamohan observed that Manipuri being the lingua franca of the State, all ethnic groups ought to strive for the development of the language.
