Imphal, August 20 2009:
Around 59 acres of cultivated paddy field in Makhuam (Maringching) in Tamenglong district have been reportedly washed away destroying all the standing crops beyond redemption in the flood water from Ijei river.
In this regard, the affected farmers have called upon the Government for providing necessary assistance.
Crops cultivated in over 25 paris of paddy fields in Kharam Pallel village of Senapati district have also been reportedly damaged in the August 14 downpour, according to another statement issued by chief of the village.
