Imphal, August 20 2009:
'The Jewel of India'the epithet which the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru had given to Manipur is burning in flames, said Shanti Das, the president of National United Women Front (NUWF).
She was talking to members of Ch Sanjit's family and the JAC against the killing of Sanjit today while paying a visit at their locality.
A team led by the President of NUWF Shanti Das and its secretary Maria Hmangte has visited the family members of Ch Sanjit who was killed in a reported fake encounter on July 23 at Khwairamband Bazar.
Hearing the story of the JAC, Shanti Das further lamented that the once peaceful land is now filled with the cries of mothers who are forcibly separated with their sons, children and widows whose father and husbands were killed.
Shanti Das said the day will come though when the truth triumph.
She said there are two ways to fight the government: Either to arm all the civilians or to simply use ballot box as a weapon.
She also hails the women for leading the agitation in the front.
The JC has also handed Shanti Das a leaflet containing the activities of the JAC since the killing of Sanjit in fake encounter on July 23 .
