The Ruangmei Lu Phuam (RLP) (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), a Ruangmei women organization has expressed serious concern over the apathy of the Government of Manipur as well as the civil society organizations of the state towards one of the injured victims of the July 23 fake encounter incident of Imphal market.
Addressing a press meet, Panti Gonmei, president of RLP reiterated the condemnation of the body on the alleged stage-managed execution incident on July 23 of Imphal market and further accused chief minister, O.Ibobi for attempting to cover up the issue.
She further stated that Golmei Mangal (59), s/o Alemba of Namchang village, Keithelmanbi, had sustained bullet injuries in the July 23 incident and currently undergoing treatment in a critical condition and he has been referred for further treatment outside the state.
More than Rs.1 lakh has been exhausted in his treatment, added the RLP president.
Informing that the victim had been denied from justice, Panti Gonmei stated that the injured Golmei Mangal had undergone a surgical operation on July 29 at RIMS hospital and a deformed projectile that looked like AK-47 bullet was removed from his left hand.
However, the RIMS authority and the police had refused to show the removed projectile to the family members of the victim, alleged Panti Gonmei.
Extending its support towards the endeavor for justice of Apunba Lup and joint action committees formed against the killing of Ch Sanjit and Th Rabina, RLP appealed to all the concerned civil society organizations to ensure justice to all the victims of the July 23 incident.
The body further appealed to extend help towards Golmei Mangal who is hospitalized.
RLP further informed that Golmei Mangal needed further treatment and the people can extend help to the victim either in cash or in kind through its office at Langol Tarung, Imphal near RBNA House.
