Tamenglong, February 19, 2010:
The Committee for Development of Tamenglong District (CDTD) today submitted a representation to the state chief secretary urging to open a branch of the State Bank of India at Tamenglong district considering the urgent need of same in the district headquarters.
The people of Tamenglong district have been facing great inconveniences in connection with the banking activities for the past few years especially in transaction of money/cash due to lack of proper banking facilities in the district.
The UBI, Tamenglong branch, the only bank operating in the district headquarters could not meet the demand of the people, the memorandum signed by its chairman Thomas Kamei stated.
The UBI branch has been rendering service at its best effort to meet the demands and to fulfill the needs of the people of the district.
But it could not satisfy with the large number of customers.
The poor banking facilities and activities have tremendously and adversely affected the economy of the people of the district which hampering in development, the memorandum went on to observe.
