The newly constructed Ibudhou Pakhangba Temple and Hiyang Hiren inside Kangla, were inaugurated today by the state Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ph Parijat.
Minister Parijat was the chief guest, Commissioner (Art & Culture), P Bharat presided over and president of the Sanamahi Temple Board, Irengbam Lukhoi was the guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony.
The Kangla Fort Board handed over the construction work of the temple of Ibudhou Pakhangba at the Kangla Fort to the Manipur Police Housing Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 1,80,42,526.The ground work for the construction started from December 8, 2008 and completed on January 30 last.
It is also pertinent to mention that the wood for construction of the two Hiyang Hiren was taken from Khamson village of Senapati district.
The felling of tree was done with traditional rituals on January 5, 2006 and the making of the boats were completed in February 2006 at the same place.
The boats were transported on the Iril River.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, minister Parijat observed that with the installation of a Temple of Pakhangba with the Hiyang Hiren, the quality of the Kangla Fort will be added more.
